Meaning:

"The Interwoven Universe" is an ardent celebration of human unity, intrinsically woven through diversity. It represents a collective and dynamic dance of intertwined female bodies, the absence of defined features on the faces opening to a universal common connection through the erasure of individual boundaries. The varied colours of the bodies are not simple shades, but a vibrant global mosaic that celebrates the diversity of races, journeys and cultures. The play of contrasts in the purple background (dark for foundations and bright for hope) envelops this dance, suggesting that it is by embracing both our roots and our aspirations that humanity achieves spiritual elevation.

The colours of Body: colours are the central element of the celebration of diversity.
Chromatic Context: The bodies are painted in a palette of warm tones ranging from sunny yellow to bright orange, through earthy red and flesh pink.
This chromatic variety represents the different human races and celebrates global diversity. These superimposed and mixed colours, sometimes articulated in geometric patterns (notably diamonds on the central figure), evoke the idea that each human being contributes to a complex, rich and beautiful mosaic. They affirm that union is not uniformity, but mixture.

The Blue Background: The choice of blue background is not decorative, but spiritual.
Chromatic Context: The light and dark variations of blue create vertical and symbolic depth.
The darkblue towards the feet represents challenges and foundations. The luminous blue towards the top embodies hope, wisdom and elevation. The background unifies the scene into a space of meditation and aspiration, symbolizing humanity's path, starting from the foundations and rising towards wisdom.

Ultimately, the painting is an ode to the beauty of difference as a source of inspiration, growth and collective harmony.

About The Series:

Res bina is a Latin term meaning "dual being" and union of opposites. The artist highlights humanity's distance from a natural balance between the masculine and feminine principles, spirit and matter. The spirit, represented by the brain, is meant to elevate itself through divine light and bring clarity to decisions. Matter, symbolized by the heart, is guided by desires that are often superficial and material, leading to dissatisfaction and disorder in individual lives as well as in the world.
Gilles associates the heart with the feminine principle, often motivated by emotion, while the brain, the masculine principle, acts through objectivity. He invites us to reconnect these two forces to allow life to be balanced: reason must monitor the desires of the heart, and the heart must soften the choices of the brain. He also uses geometric symbols to describe man (associated with the number 3, the triangle, protection, the shield) and woman (associated with the number 4, the square, stability, fertility and growth), showing that each one's roles are complementary and necessary for family and social harmony.
Gilles emphasizes the importance of avoiding rivalry between man and woman, who share neither the same functions nor the same essence. He calls for an inner union of the two principles and an openness to divine light to enable a more peaceful and balanced human life. His artistic works illustrate these ideas and seek to inspire an essential reconnection between these poles within each individual.
